Conceal and Reveal, solo exhibition by Kathleen Ainscough, Gallery @ Cove Commons, July 10-August 11
Conceal and Reveal • Gallery @ Cove Commons • July 10 – August 11
gallery is open Wednesday through Monday, 10 AM – 5 PM

Kathleen Ainscough works in a variety of media and techniques and has been creating fine art, costumes and textiles for over 35 years. This solo exhibition features her latest works.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Impermanence and the cycles of nature are my inspiration. Light emerging from shadow, the relationships between humans and nature, rich surfaces echoing time-worn layers scoured by the elements, deep pools of water, reflections, mist on the shoreline, are captured in layers of paint and other materials.
I am intrigued by the patterns and repetition found in nature’s microscopic to cosmologic worlds and how they are reinterpreted in the built environment.

My passion is in the process and materials. Awakening the surface with bold, intuitive marks, layers of paper, paint, and textures, captures the early freedom and spontaneity. Much is learned from experiments and working intuitively, embracing the unexpected and responding spontaneously. When I am immersed in art making there is a sense of freedom, an unmeasured sense of time – kairos, or episodic, rather than chronos, or linear.

Kathleen actively creates, exhibits, and teaches in the mediums of painting, photography, sculpture and textiles. She offers mixed media art workshops through the Hearth -Bowen Island Arts Council where she works as their program coordinator.

Mexican Feria del Pueblo with La Mezcaleria @ Home Farm Gardens
Jul 20 @ 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm

July 20 Mexican Feria del Pueblo with La Mezcaleria, Home Farm Garden's long-table dinner

A Feria is held yearly in hundreds of small towns across Mexico, a gathering together of family and friends. It’s a day to tell stories, to sing together and to show off with food. No one is a stranger, and no one is left out. Young and old are welcome and food is prepared to be enjoyed by all.

On July 20th, Home Farm Gardens and the chefs from La Mezcaleria are creating a Mexican feria and long-table dinner in the charming setting of Endswell Farm, a 150-acre organic heritage farm. This will be a true fiesta! In addition to a delicious four-course Mexican feast, you’ll be serenaded by a mariachi band, have fun at the adult piñata station, and can sample a variety of tequilas and mescals at the specialty cash bar. All guests receive a take-away gift, too.

Since 2013 and with two locations in Vancouver, La Mezcaleria has been dedicated to bringing the most authentic Mexican food it can to Vancouver. The dedicated team at La Mezcaleria, Chef Mariana Gabilondo, Chef Jose Mujica and Chef Yessica Garcia, (and a few more of the Mezcal family) will be cooking and transforming all of Home Farm Gardens marvellous fresh products into a traditional-style feira long-table dinner.

You are warming invited to attend this magical Mexican feast night at Home Farm Gardens.
